Photo retouching programs
- GIMP - GNU Image Manipulation Program. The Gimp is a freely distributed piece of software for photo retouching, image composition and image authoring. It works on many operating systems (Windows, Linux, Mac OS), in many languages. On several points, it can truely vie with the giant Adobe Photoshop.
- Seashore - Seashore is an open source image editor for Mac OS X, designed for those who like GIMP power coupled with Mac OS work environement. Seashore is based around the GIMP's technology, and uses the same native file format.
- GimpShop - Photoshop users who wish to change to GIMP can pitch on GimpShop, a modification GIMP intended to replicate the feel of Adobe Photoshop. Really convenient!
Free software applications to manage images
- Picasa - Picasa is a software application for organizing and editing digital photos. It shines when it comes to organizing on your devices, and sharing pictures.
- iPhoto is a software application made by Apple to organize a photo collection. It work on Mac OS system and is free for Mac users.
